As I said in my first Blaugust post, the plan is to get out of bed, make some coffee, and then write a blog post while I drink. And that's exactly what I did—it's just that it's 9pm, and this is my second cup.
I've been feeling a little more out of sorts than usual. Too much free time while my students are on summer vacation. I'm waiting on my passport renewal to see if I get to take the trip I want to take. XOXO is back for one last year, and while I didn't get a ticket, there are going to be a lot of people I'd love to see in Portland at the end of the month. Cross your fingers my passport arrives.
In the meantime, I'm restless. After I finished watching Leverage, I haven't been able to find another series that hooks me. It's nice to have a show to watch. The last episode of 911: Lone Star was May 16, 2023, and it's finally coming back—but not until September.
Here's a list of what I've tried watching in the past week, in no particular order: House, Deep Space Nine, Stargate SG-1, Charmed, Murder She Wrote, Farscape, Generation Kill. Just now, while I'm writing this post!, I clicked into the other window and pushed play on the first episode of Homicide: Life on the Street. (I've watched a lot of first episodes recently.) They recently announced that it's finally coming to streaming.
You know what I've been watching again? Griffin McElroy playing Zelda. (Here I would put a link to the post I wrote in late 2022 about how I was watching the first Trial by Fieri on repeat, but my pre-2024 archives aren't currently online. Some day.) "Watching" is a misnomer, actually. It's what I listen to while I do the dishes.
I had a pretty good July, feeling creative and motivated, but that fresh start feeling is gone now. It's time to find a rhythm and try not to lose momentum. This daily blogging practice is helping, I think, I hope. If I can give you one piece of advice: they don't all have to be bangers. But make something. It feels good.
