A Tale of Two Raphaels

If you love Raphael (who doesn’t), then you will love this film.

A documentary about Raphael’s tapestries in the Vatican and Raphael’s cartoons for the tapestries in England. Maybe it’s because I’m a seamstress, too, but I loved seeing the women in the Vatican Tapestry Conservation Studio. They have library stacks filled with thread!

I love this freaky boar because I love his story. He is a marble copy from 1925 by Pietro Bazzanti of a bronze copy from 1612 by Petro Tacca of a marble copy brought from Rome in 1556 of a bronze statue from the Hellenistic period.

A copy of a copy of a copy of a statue Alexander might have seen (might have commissioned!). Just in case you still thought we invented the remix.
